At the April 2017 board meeting in Columbia MO, the MSQG board authorized the establishment of a new recognition program called the Spirit Award. In conjunction with the existing Missouri Quilters Hall of Fame (outlined in the 2016-2017 membership book, pg 5), the Spirit Award will recognize those members who promote MSQG through their enthusiasm and willingness to work for the benefit of all members. While these two programs are similar, the Spirit Award may include newer members, those who concentrate on a single area of MSQG life (event, committee, etc), or may/ may not serve in a “titled” position, such as board member, chairman, etc.
We will introduce the program at the October 2017 fall retreat. Nominations for the Spirit Award will be accepted from January to June 2018. The recipients, known as the Class of 2018, will be announced at the fall retreat and receive an appropriate award. The funding for our committee will begin with a memorial gift presented by the family of Ellen O’Bryan, our dear past president (2015).
